Weather & Windstorms & Weddings… Oh My!

As windstorms rage through many parts of the US today, many people may be thinking about the impact of these natural disasters on their lives, including their upcoming weddings. For those of you currently planning weddings, it is important to consider wedding insurance as a way to protect your investment and ensure that your big day goes as smoothly as possible.

Wedding “Cancellation” insurance covers unforeseen events that could disrupt or cancel a wedding. This can include natural disasters, as well as other unexpected occurrences such as illness, venue closures, and vendor no-shows. This insurance can help to provide peace of mind for engaged couples and their families, ensuring that they are protected in the event of any unexpected circumstances.

In the case of windstorms like many are seeing today, wedding insurance can be particularly important. Strong winds can cause damage to wedding venues, disrupt travel plans for guests, and make it difficult for vendors to deliver goods and services. If a wedding is cancelled or postponed due to a windstorm, wedding insurance can help to cover the costs of rescheduling the event, including venue and vendor fees, travel expenses, and more.

Wedding insurance can also provide coverage for damages or losses incurred as a result of a windstorm. For example, if a wedding venue is damaged by high winds and cannot be used for the event, wedding insurance can help to cover the cost of finding a new venue and rescheduling the wedding.

In order to obtain wedding insurance, couples need to purchase a policy from an insurance provider. Policies can vary in terms of coverage and cost, so it is important to shop around and compare options before making a purchase. Some insurance providers may offer discounts or package deals for wedding insurance, so it can be worth exploring these options as well. There is another type of wedding event insurance that covers the actual day of the event so don’t forget to look for the postponement or cancellation upgrade.

While it is impossible to predict or prevent all natural disasters, wedding insurance can provide couples with peace of mind and financial protection in the event of unexpected circumstances. By considering wedding insurance as part of your planning process, you can ensure that your big day is as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, even in the face of Mother Nature.

fun with color palettes

Hey y’all,

I’ve been on an inspiration kick lately & have sought out (or had the palettes given to me) the most popular colors in our little corner of the wedding world right now.

It’s very on trend to see weddings with terracotta or rust and also sage green so there are several palettes focused on at least one of the colors in the following inspo boards.

I started with an inspiration board from a previous event as the palette fits this same type of rust & green theme.

Pink Rust blue green copper.png

This board went on to inspire more of a blue and copper theme.

However Rust/Terracotta is such a fun neutral color that can lend itself to a wide array of design ideas so we went back to the popular rust & green and came up with this gem.

And next I was hit with inspiration to take this theme and give it a bit more moodiness. So I ended up with more neutrals and warm earth tones.

Seriously, how gorgeous are these?! These earth or desert tones can really warm up a room or accent a beautiful industrial brick scene. I know we have several local venues that would be the perfect backdrop for such drama!

But going back a bit to the desert green colors I was finding, and despite the fact that yellow is certainly not a favorite of mine, I ended up completely inspired to make this board. To me it’s the perfect end of summer, beginning of fall where it’s still too warm for our favorite comfy sweaters, leggings, boots and warm mugs of tea & coffee. It’s kind of like a “goodbye, summer” until we meet again type of theme.

Once I got into my feels about how much I love Autumn, it’s my second favorite season after all, I was presented with another bright desert color - turquoise! This time I wanted to do justice and darken to a teal and bring back our sage green.

The funny thing I noticed while working on this board was that there are plenty of times that our home decor can inspire our wedding aesthetic. These paint cards have so many luxurious feeling room ideas swirling in my brain. And yes, if you are asking my wedding colors and my interior house decor are extremely similar. There are a few reasons that I found this amusing. Number 1 and the biggest thing I tell all my clients, is that I am NOT a designer by any means. That was always one of my mom’s best qualities. My kids can all attest to the fact that I like simple designs and my husband likes much more ornate details and he has designed most of our home decor.

Do you find that your home and wedding colors line up? Leave a comment and let me know. I’m truly curious if there’s any correlation to this idea

Until next time!

Cheers 🥂

I’m back again with some more beautiful wedding inspiration.

This week I’m focused on the beauty that is Spring. We’ve just witnessed another beautiful Derby race day here in Louisville and the fashion inspiration that comes along with it.

Happy MAR10 day

Well folks,

Procrastination plus chasing my 2 year old grandson around the house all week has made this a later evening blog post than I originally planned. HOWEVER, I am in love with this inspiration board I put together today to honor my very first video game character ever. Yes our Beloved Mario is 35 today and he was the first game that we got when a Nintendo Entertainment System showed up underneath our Christmas tree. Now I did NOT get this system or game at the ripe old age of 6, nor did I have my dad hook it up to be the very first video game I ever played. But this was our first console as our little family (I had played Atari 2600 with Pong among other games at a family members house). My brother and I have been into video games ever since. I must confess that I was unaware it was the 35th anniversary until I saw the email from Nintendo Gaming today but it was a welcome surprise.

This of course is the more direct way to do a Mario Wedding and someday I’d love to plan a wedding to land on March 10th (Mar+10 = Mario) with this theme. I absolutely would like to do a more sophisticated version of the Mario theme as well so look for that in a future blog post.

Do you have a favorite childhood gaming memory? Did you and your significant other bond over Avengers movie and Pizza dates? If traditional weddings aren’t exactly for you, then you are definitely in the right place! I love all things wedding, but I especially love when I can combine my wedding love with my hobby of video games.

Until Next Time,

Cheers 🥂

Kimberly
